How we checked

We read the full Keepa price history for 18 golf products sold on Amazon (the same listings we link to), going back as far as each listing allows: 2014 for the oldest, a few weeks for the newest. For each product we noted its usual price, its three lowest dips and when they happened. We show discounts as a percentage below the usual price at the time, not dollar prices, because Amazon prices change constantly.

Two honest limits: this is 18 Amazon listings, not the whole golf market, and several launch monitors and projectors have less than a year of history. Treat the sim gear findings as a lead, not a rule.

Bar chart of when 42 lowest-price dips happened: 11 in November around Black Friday, 8 in June to early July, 7 in August, 6 in September to October, 6 in January to March, 2 in late July and 2 in April.

Of the 42 lowest prices (the top three for each of 14 products; four others never dipped or moved only a few dollars), 11 fell in November, the most of any window. June to early July, when Father's Day and Prime Day fall, came second with 8. In 2026 Amazon moved Prime Day to June 23–26, earlier than its usual July dates.

Bar chart of each product's biggest price drop. Putting and training aids dropped 20 to 49 percent; nets, balls and small gifts 14 to 17 percent; launch monitors and projectors 0 to 36 percent, with three that never dropped.

Training aids and putting mats: wait for Black Friday

This is where the real sales are. Every training aid and putting mat we checked dropped at least 20% at some point, and the timing repeats:

  • The Wellputt 10 ft putting mat hit its low around Black Friday or Cyber Monday in 2021, 2024 and 2025. It's the clearest pattern in the whole set.
  • The GForce 7-iron trainer dipped around Black Friday 2024 and again in January 2026, and it was near its low again in early November 2026.
  • The Rypstick dipped in late August two years running (around Labor Day) and again around Black Friday 2025.
  • The Tour Striker 7-iron and the PuttOUT mat had Black Friday lows too, but both also had a lasting price cut, so their usual price is lower now than it used to be.

When to buy: the week before Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. If you miss it, late August and January are the backups. Swinging a trainer indoors? Check your ceiling first with our ceiling height guide.

Launch monitors and projectors: watch for price cuts, not sales

Most sim gear barely moves on Amazon. Three of the eight launch monitors and projectors we checked never dropped at all, and two more dropped less than 15%. Brands often set the price sellers can advertise, so sales tend to show up as bundles or as a lower price on the older model.

  • Lasting price cuts beat one-off dips. The Rapsodo MLM2PRO's price dropped for good in June 2026, lower than most of its past sales.
  • The 2026 lows came early. The Foresight GCQuad, Optoma ZH451ST and JMGO N3 Ultimate all hit their 2026 lows between mid-September and early November, not on Prime Day.
  • Some prices went up. The BenQ AK700ST and the Spornia SPG-7 net cost more now than when their listings started.

When to buy: if the price already dropped in October or November, there's little reason to wait for Black Friday. Before you buy a launch monitor or projector as a gift, make sure it fits the room: our room size guide and the builder check that in a few minutes.

Balls and small gifts: don't wait

  • Titleist Pro V1: the price barely moved. The only notable dip came from a third-party seller when a new model came out. If a dozen balls is the gift, buy it whenever it suits you.
  • Garmin Approach J1 junior watch: its dips were about 17% in June, July and August 2026, with less than a year of history so far.
  • Golf watches and rangefinders: we haven't tracked these yet. Set a free price alert on Keepa or CamelCamelCamel and buy when it drops.

Three tips for any golf gift

  1. Check the usual price first. A sale price can match what the item costs most of the year. A price-history tool shows the difference in seconds.
  2. Buy from the brand or Amazon itself. Several of the deepest dips we saw came from third-party sellers. Those can mean older stock or shaky returns.
  3. For sim gear, check the room before the price. A launch monitor that doesn't fit the room isn't a deal. Our builder checks the fit for free.

FAQ

Is Black Friday the best time to buy golf gifts?

For training aids and putting mats, it was the most reliable window in our data. For launch monitors and projectors, the 2026 lows came in September to early November, so Black Friday may not beat what's already out there.

Do launch monitors go on sale?

Rarely by much on Amazon. More often the price drops for good, or the older model drops when a new one comes out.

When is Prime Day?

Amazon held Prime Day 2026 on June 23–26, earlier than its usual July dates.
